Airline CV Builder Guide

A clear, honest and well-targeted CV is your first impression. Use this guide to structure a CV for airline roles. It is general advice: some airlines use their own online application forms instead of accepting a CV, so always follow the airline's instructions.

CV tips that apply to every airline

Keep every detail accurate. Never invent or exaggerate experience, qualifications or flying hours, because airlines verify information and inconsistencies can end an application.

Tailor your CV to the role and airline, using words from the official job description where they truthfully describe you.

Use measurable achievements where appropriate, for example the number of customers you served, a service score you helped improve or a training you completed.

Follow the airline's application instructions on file type, length, photo requirements and how to apply. Requirements differ, so do not assume another airline's rules apply.

Keep it clean: usually one to two pages, a simple layout, consistent fonts, no spelling errors, and a professional email address. Save it in the file format the airline asks for.

CV guidance by role

Cabin crew CV

Lead with customer-facing experience such as hospitality, retail or events. Highlight teamwork, languages, first aid or safety training, and situations where you stayed calm with upset customers. Add a short profile summarising why you suit service in a cabin environment.

Pilot CV

List licences, ratings and medical validity, total flight hours, hours on type and in command where applicable, the aircraft flown and recent experience, followed by training and employment history. Follow the airline's format and be exact, since logbooks can be checked.

Airport ground staff CV

Emphasise passenger-facing and operational experience such as check-in, reception or logistics, accuracy with systems, working shifts, languages and any relevant security or safety training.

Customer service CV

Show how you handled enquiries, complaints and busy periods, with results where possible, such as satisfaction feedback or resolution times. Include communication skills and any systems or software you used.

Aviation engineer CV

List qualifications, licences and certifications, aircraft or system types worked on, maintenance and safety procedures followed, and any regulatory experience. Be specific about the type of work you performed and your level of responsibility.

Airline management CV

Focus on leadership, team size, budgets or targets you managed, projects delivered, and measurable improvements you drove. Relate your experience to the function you apply for, such as operations, finance, HR, sales or IT.
