Group Discussion Preparation
Some airlines use group discussions or team tasks to see how candidates communicate and cooperate. Assessors usually watch behaviour rather than looking for one correct answer. This is general guidance, not a description of any specific airline's process.
What is a group discussion exercise?
Candidates are given a topic, problem or task and a set time to discuss it or reach a decision together. Assessors typically observe listening, respect for others, clear communication, teamwork and how you handle disagreement.
How to contribute effectively
Listen carefully, wait for natural gaps, and build on others' ideas by name. Bring quieter members into the conversation, keep track of time, summarise progress and stay positive and polite. A short, relevant contribution is better than a long one. Make eye contact with everyone, not only the assessor.
Practice topics
Practice Topic examples: How could an airline improve the passenger experience during a long delay? What makes a good team on a busy shift? How should a team decide who does which task in an emergency drill scenario? Practise with friends and give each other feedback.
Common mistakes to avoid
Avoid dominating, interrupting, dismissing ideas, staying silent, arguing to win, or ignoring the time limit. Being supportive counts more than being the loudest.
Group exercise formats differ between airlines and change over time. JobNeste does not guarantee interviews or job offers. Follow the instructions in your invitation and check the airline's official careers website.
