Video Interview Preparation
Many airlines use video interviews as an early or main selection step. Some are live with a recruiter, others are recorded answers to set questions. Prepare as carefully as you would for an in-person interview.
Set up your space and technology
Test your camera, microphone and internet connection beforehand and close other apps. Choose a quiet, well-lit, uncluttered space with light in front of you rather than behind. Keep your device stable at eye level, charge it, and have the invitation link ready.
Presenting yourself on camera
Dress and present yourself professionally, follow any guidance the airline gives, sit upright, look at the camera, smile naturally and speak clearly at a steady pace. Keep notes for your key STAR examples out of view of the camera or memorised, and avoid reading a script.
Live and recorded interviews
In live interviews, allow a short pause after each question to avoid talking over the recruiter. In recorded interviews, check the time limits and number of attempts allowed, read each question carefully, and keep answers focused and within the time.
Common mistakes to avoid
Avoid a cluttered or noisy background, poor lighting, looking at your own image instead of the camera, joining late, and technical surprises. Always follow the platform instructions you were sent.
Video interview platforms and formats differ between airlines. JobNeste does not guarantee interviews or job offers. Follow the airline's own instructions and check its official careers website.
